2. feel like
3. fall apart

 d) Find these expressions. What do you think they mean?
You obviously can not translate them word by word, you're going to have to use your imagination a bit.
1. "I need to get my story straight"
2.  "My seat's been taken"
3. "I'm trying hard"
4.  "I guess that..."
5.  "...find new ways..."

Maroon 5 "Payphone"

You need a piece of paper to copy the answers of the activities. No need to copy the lyrics, just the anwers.

You also need headphones!

a) Watch this video, and listen to the song. Do you like the song? Can you guess what is it about?

Listen again and...
b) Fill in the gaps with the prepositions:
 on   for   at   to  of
I'm ______  a payphone trying ______call home
All ______ my change I spent ______ you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made ______ two?

c) Reorder :
___The people we used to be
___And in our time that you wasted
___That you're not here next to me
___But is it too late to try?
___Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember

I've wasted ______ nights
You turned ______ the lights
______ I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time ______ we called it love
But ______ the sun sets in paradise

I'm at a payphone…

e) Now cross the extra word:
If happy end ever after did exist
I would still be holding you tight like this
All those fairytales are full of bull sh*t
One more bloody stupid love song I'll be sick

f) There is one missing word on each line. Can you hear what is missing?
You turned your on tomorrow
you forgot yesterday
I gave my love to borrow
But just gave away
You can't expect me to fine
I don't expect you care
I know I've said before
But all of our bridges burned

I've wasted my nights…

I'm at a payphone …

If happy ever after did exist…

Now I'm at a payphone...

j) When a verb and a preposition are together the meaning changes, remember?  I told you about "take back" (= retirar el que he dit).
There are a lot of phrasal verbs here, can you find them and work out what they mean? They are in bold to help you a little bit. You can use the diccionary

Man work that sh*t
I'll be out spending all this money while you sitting round
Wondering why it wasn't you who came up from nothing
Made it from the bottom
Now when you see me I'm stunning
And all of my cars start with the push up of a button
Telling me the chances I blew up or whatever you call it
Switched the number to my phone
So you never could call it
Don't need my name on my show
You can tell it I'm ballin'
Swish, what a shame could have got picked
Had a really good game but you missed your last shot
So you talk about who you see at the top
Or what you could've seen
But sad to say it's over for
Phantom pulled up valet open doors
Wiz like go away, got what you was looking for
Now ask me who they want
So you can go and take that little piece of sh*t with you

I'm at a payphone …

If happy ever after…

Now I'm at a payphone...

1. work out
2. sit round
3. come up
4. push up
5. blow up
6. be over
7. pull up
8. go away
9. look for
